Could my dog be a carrier for ringworm?

For the last seven months My dog has been to three vets and tried all kinds of fungal medicine, shampoos and cremes, but the say he doesn't have it.The problem is: I, my sister and my 4 year old niece have gotten dozens and dozens of them, back to back. In that time his skin scrape tested negative for fungus. I just wanna know could dogs still carry this without having ringworm themselves?

Could my dog be a carrier for ringworm?
yes animals and people can be carriers...it will remain dormant for long periods and flare up due to stress .... there is a vaccine for cats..not sure if they offer one for dogs
Reply:Yes dogs and cats can be carriers without having active ringworm.
Reply:We had a cat that was..not sure if dogs can though .
Reply:Yes, even people can be carriers.
Reply:Nope. Ringworm comes from the dirt and gets on us and pets that way. However, if the dog has ringworm from the dirt,,,and dirt particles (along with spores from ringworm) are still in the fur, it can spread that way.You could all be getting it from the same place in the yard or where ever it is. It can live on the floor or clothes, if the infested dirt is still there.Since it's been so long, the ringworm could be dropping spores from the infected areas on you and the family,,,and just reinfesting everything. If the dog isn't itching and loosing hair , then you aren't getting it from the dog. If it IS scratching, loosing hair and has scabby hairless places on it, then it should be shaved close,,,washed thoroughly, and gentian violet should be applied. You can buy this at any drug store in a spray, or a bottle and use a qtip to put it on. You can use this on yourself too. It's the best med to get rid of ringworm fast.
Reply:Yes they can
Reply:yes.. Dogs %26amp; Cats are the main carriers of them alough many humans have it to... try and go back to the vets and get him wormed,..,c Cut down on sugary foods to x.
Reply:Hi

In all my years of dog breeding I always wondered when this question was going to pop up...

Yes this is very very true especially in dogs that are like a fawn or blue or white color l had a fawn Doberman My dream dog when I was younger I loved her do very very much she was the world to me and I showed her and everything and nothing then when she retired and I went to breed her the first time Boom her immunity dropped so low when she was Pregnant it brought it out in her you did not see a spot on her but every single one of the female Pups had spots of it Not one of the males only the little girls and it was the craziest thing to try and diagnose and My dad and I had to take to her Vet after Vet then finally the University and she was diagnosed and the vet said they had never in there life seen that and probably never again will but Mom was a carrier and will never break out but she will share it with all her off spring but the odd thing was no one in my family ever got it and she used to sleep in Bed with me but as soon as my Mom caught wind of it she Flipped and that was it for her being in the house and soon after that I came home from School and she was gone My dad told me she had run away but I knew better she was born and raised there she never ever left the yard

Now that I am older I understand my parents concern But

AnyHoo Yes Your Pup can be a carrier and you might never ever see a spot but she will share with anyone

I am so very very sorry For You if she does have it and For Your and his sake I really hope he does not

Good Luck to you

Respectfully Yours

Anne
