I have a little over a year old dachound... and when i got her she was on Enhance dog food. And I wanted to feed her what i thought would be top of the line dog food which was Hill's Science Diet... Ever since she started eating it she has experiance hair loss under her neck and her "elbows" and on the back of her back legs, I had her tested for ALL skin mites 3 times and had 2 blood tests, and all test come back negitive. So I have now swiched her to Purina One Natural Blends Chicken %26amp; Oatmeal Formula because i was told oatmeal helps there coat and skin and i thought heck it couldnt hurt...I was just woundering if i was the only one or should i contact Hill's themselves or what?? Thanks :) PLEASE LET ME KNOW

Yes I had the same problem and eventually switched to another food and it was one of the foods recalled. I lost my sweet baby. I have a new puppy and believe me I have done extensive research on this subject. I am now ordering Merrick puppy food because I cannot get it locally. I also order their treats for her. She is now 5 months old and has the most gorgeous coat and is very very healthy. They ship free inside the USA. they have a website you can go to and read about their company and their products. www.merrickpetfoods.com
Reply:contact the makers imed.! all the outbreak with dog food

(pet foods) please contact them do not take a chance.**prayers%26amp;blessings**
Reply:No...sounds weird though

Did the fur grow back after you switched foods???
Reply:Science Diet, ALL Purina.. Iams/Eukanuba, Pedigree, Beneful, Kibbles N Bits, Ol Roy etc.. GARGAGE foods.. Science diet is a food that vets make huge profit off of... They have no conscience and love to sell it to people to make that profit.. No regard at all for your pet's health, cause hey he has a whole lot of chronic issues that comes with Science Diet and it keeps his doors open... It's basically a cash cow.. Feed Science Diet, and have allergy problems, chronic skin / coat, ear problems.. Problems with the stomach.. Cancers from the ingredients, and everything else..

You have to feed a good quality healthy dog food.. Forget these poison dog foods filled with cancer causing ingredients, poison dyes, pesticides and harmful preservatives..
Reply:They know.

They are completely aware that their dog food is harmful.

Read "Food Pets Die For" by Ann N. Martin.

She lost a dog to bad dog food, and did extensive research, and published the gruesome details in a truely shocking book.

They know, and don't care that their dog food is full of HARMFUL substances.

Science Diet is one of the worst. They pay vets to endorse their food!

Purina (the one you feed) and Iams aren't much better.

Your dog's reaction is very common. It's caused by corn and wheat as well as the "fillers" used in the food.

Look into Innova, California Natural, Wellness, Canidae (what I feed), Artemis. All are great, all have websites.

California Natural Skin and Coat Supplement works wonders, you will be very pleased. www.naturapet.com for more information.

Good luck to you.
Reply:well sweetie its true all dog foods have horrible things in them like the one you are giveing your dog now,,, has dead dog in it and dissieed experiments that died in labrATORIies and is cillling y our dogs imiune system

love tori
Reply:Unfortunately it is common. Corn and wheat, and by products are horrible to feed to a dog. I have no idea why people think Iams an science diet , and Purina are good foods. They are not!!!! I would look into Blue buffalo ( what i feed), or Natures recipe. Very good foods. Try to get a food with no corn, wheat , soy, by products, no artificial preservatives. Corn cause dry and itchy skin . And if they already have problems, it will make it worse. Honestly like every one else is saying they don't care, it's all about money!!
Reply:My dog eats science diet prescription food for sensitive stomach, everything else gives her bad gas %26amp; makes her vomit 3-4 times a month.Since being on science diet I haven't had any problems with her at all.
Reply:I used to give my toy fox terrier science diet and nothing happened to him. I also just switched my 2 year old chihuahua over from Eukaneba to Science Diet and he's also fine. Science diet is a very high quality dog food and I doubt thats why you dog lost his hair. They are a thousnad other reasons your pooch could be going bald. It may be because of the food but it might just be that your dog is allergic to something they put in it but I highly doubt that too. As long as she's not itching or has any cuts along with the hair loss then she should be fine. Just monitor her and make sure it doesn't get any worse and see if the new dog food helps any. Good Luck!
Reply:Science diet and any other dog food that comes from a grocery store or Wal-Mart is crap. You need to go to a pet shop, or a Petsmart, or Petco, and get some dog food. And when choosing dog food make sure the first ingredient listed is Chicken, or some other kind of meat.
