Is it ok if dogs be feed with chicken, especially chicken bones?

Some people say that chicken is not advisable food for dogs because it will cause skin problems and and other disease. is it true or not? What will be the side effects if I feed dogs with chicken, I mean cooked chicken?

Is it ok if dogs be feed with chicken, especially chicken bones?
Chicken is okay. Definitely no chicken bones, they are sharp and brittle and can seriously harm your dog.
Reply:I have never heard of chicken causing skin problems for a dog the chicken meat the dog can eat but i wouldnt feed a dog the bones because they can choke on them i have seen it happen to many times
Reply:well people usually don't reccomend it since dogs could choke on the bone. they're not very careful when they eat. if you wanted to serve them chicken you should probably serve it to them as chicken broth. that way, it's soft and there's no bones.
Reply:First, it's best if you feed your dog nothing but a good quality dog food.

If you're going to give your dog something besides dog food, make sure it does not make up more than 10% of his diet. Or, to put it another way, make sure that at least 90% of his diet is that good quality dog food.

Fully cooked boneless chicken would be ok to give as an occassional snack. Bones can cause problems up to and including GI blockage and/or perforation, which is a surgical emergency.

If what you are asking is if its ok to feed chicken as this primary source of food, the answer is an emphatic no. There are a number of trace vitamins and minerals he would not be getting that way.

Go with a good quality dog food, for your pet's sake.
Reply:Chicken is okay for dogs, as you said cooked to avoid salmonella ofcourse, but chicken bones can splinter and cause intestinal damage.
Reply:Yes but only raw - especially if it has bones. NEVER feed cooked bones of any type.

Many people give their dogs raw chicken with bones will no problems. Do some research into raw feeding and you will soon see the benefits both for your dogs health and your wallet.
Reply:i always give my dog chicken bones and hes still fine.. i think only if its cooked then its easy for the dogs to brake it and they can choke on little pieces i never knew dogs can have skin problems??
Reply:it will not cause skin problembs. but cooked chicken bones will splinter and get stuck in their neck. raw ones are a healthier choise.
Reply:why cook it? raw is better, especially raw meaty bones like chicken back. Check out this site:

BUT cooked chicken BONES are dangerous and for a dog that gulps food, weight bearing bones that are raw,well- any meaty bones, can be dangerous unless ground.

DE-BONED cooked chicken or raw chicken is good for dogs, you just want to feed dogs the right proportions of needed nutrients. Chicken alone would not be enough, or meat alone would not be though it would comprise the major part of the diet, without the fat trimmings.
Reply:If you feed your dog chicken make sure it doesn't have the bones in it. Poultry bones are hollow and can splinter causing internal damage and even death to some dogs. Chicken meat itself only causes problems A) if the dog is allergic to it, and B) if it is fed in excess. Obviously it's okay to feed some chicken occasionally, but don't give your dog fried chicken. The grease can cause an inflammation of the pancreas as the dog's body works overtime to try and process the high fat content. There digestive systems aren't like ours and high fat foods, such as fried, gravy, and bacon or ham can really make them ill. Hope this helps.
Reply:Chicken, dogs can eat, but do not give them ckicken bones!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The bones will kill the dogs!!!!!!!
Reply:dont feed it cooked chicken bones. it will splinter and can cause internal bleeding which will require surgery. if they are soft, its ok
Reply:Only feed it if it is raw. Raw chicken, bones and all, is a common diet among some large-dog breeders.
