My dog has been limping for about 2 days..?

I tole my parents about this and my father told me she could have hip dysplacia.

Hip dysplatia is supposedly hereditary, which causes a problem. We have no clue who her parents are (she's a pet shop dog. shame on me, I know, I know.) She's a Pembroke Welsh Corgi, 4 years old. The leg she has been trying to comfort is her back right leg. When she walks, she puts her leg up. We have many flights of stairs, (condominium living. =/ ) so at first I though she may have a sprain. Later I realized that there was no swelling.

I have another corgi and I took into consideration that maybe he was playing with her and went a bit too far. No blood was drawn, no skin was ripped. (He is a very calm dog, loves her, and would NEVER hurt her.)

If any of you have/had or know something that might be the reason for my baby's pain.. Tell, tell!

My dog has been limping for about 2 days..?
Have you really looked your dog over?? Check it's paws, each pad on the paw as well as between the pads. Maybe she stepped on something. Feel around and find out where she is sensitive. Does she jerk away when you hold her paw? Or is it when you put pressure near her knee or her hip? Watch her reactions and you should get a good idea of where the pain is. I would still suggest going to the vet though, just to make sure.
Reply:Take your dog to the vet and let him/her make the diagnosis.
Reply:You should take your dog to the vet and the vet will tell you whats wrong.
Reply:could be a winter thing

maybe she has arthritis?
Reply:More likely, she has a knee problem, like a torn anterior cruciate ligament. This is more common is small dogs than hip dysplasia, and the symptoms you describe suggest it is her knee. She needs to (broken record) go to the vet.
Reply:Only the vet will be able to tell. He'll probably feel the leg should be able to tell from doing that if it's a ligament problem or a strain or a sprain. He may want to do an xray. She'll probably be on anti inflammatories for a week or so.

She may have just landed wrong on her leg or maybe the other one landed funny on her and bruised the muscle......the vet will be able to diagnose it and give you the proper instructions.

Good luck.
Reply:it doesn't matter what your father told you, it could constitute animal cruelty if you don't get your dog to the vet immediately. As soon as you pet started limping you should have taken her to the vet and had the vet do an exam and make a diagnosis, that is unless your father is a retired licensed DVM. If not I would say "Thanks for the opinion Dad buy I will take the dog to the vet and let them see what is wrong with her hind leg. I love you for trying to help but I really do need to get her seen about".
