Does your dog get a rash from lying on grass?

i have an english bull terrier and that breed is known for it's skin sensitivity.

She seems to be allergic to grass. When she lies out in the sun on the grass, you can see that her tummy gets all red and rash like.

It's not major, it fades within a few hours, but it seems weird that a dog can be allergic to grass!!!!

anyone have a dog that has this problem?

Does your dog get a rash from lying on grass?
Absolutely. They are especially allergic to St. Augustine grass.
Reply:I would say it is NOT the grass(I have never heard of an animal being allergic to grass) it is probably mosquitos or chiggers biting it
Reply:Two of my three dogs are allergic to grass as well! You're lucky, though, that it clears up on its own after a short period of time. My lhaso apso needs allergy medicine and sometimes cortisone shots in the summer because he's that allergic to grass.
Reply:I have a lab mix with a severe grass allergy. I give her Benydryl which gives her some relief. She's an outside dog so she has it pretty rough in the summer and early fall.
Reply:Dogs can be allergic to grass. If it gets to be a big problem bring the dog to the vet and they may have something they can put her on to stop the sensitivity.
Reply:Yes. My dog is allergic to grass as well and my other dog was allergic to my carpet.
Reply:I had a Golden retriever years ago that had the same problem his skin would get so bad and it would smell bad, He had to get cortisone shots to clear it up and after that he could not lay in the grass. So he had a Big lawn chair or a blanket when we sat out, It was cute
Reply:No.
Reply:No, but if one has an allergy to grass it will.
Reply:my parents have a mini dachsund, and she breaks out on her underbelly, bacause of the grass.
