Can a dog be allergic to the vet's meds?

My Boston Terrier is suffering from allergies, and it think the vet's meds (antibiotics and anti-inflamatory) may be making it worse, causing him to itch and scratch even more. Is that possible, or would vet meds only help his skin problems?

Can a dog be allergic to the vet's meds?
Yes it's possible. If you are pretty sure that it's the medication that cause the allergies, stop the treatment until you meet the vet. If you're not sure about your vet, go get a second opinion from another vet.
Reply:Generally, they'd help, but a dog can be allergic to anything- just like a human!
Reply:Just as some people are allergic to certain anitbiotics and haveadvers reactions to other meds; dogs can experience the same.
Reply:yes

I have dogs die from getting their shots from an alergic reaction
Reply:Yes they can. Consult your vet right away about your concerns. Especially since you don't feel the treatment is working.
Reply:Yes pets can be allergic to medication just as humans can. Call and let your vet know. My vet told us to just use benedryal for my dogs allergies.
Reply:yes take him back to the vet and tell them
Reply:Yes they can be allergic, but are you sure its not an upset stomach from the antibiotic. Make sure he has something in his belly when he takes them.

Are you giving him benedryl? This will help with an allergic reaction to the meds too.
Reply:Any dog can be allergic or have side effects to anything. Either call the vet and ask or search the net for side effects on the drugs that he is having.
Reply:change a vet!!
