Hi, my dog was a stray and was neutered in what we believe to be his third or fourth year of life. He is a pitbull. His neutering did not go well and he spent a long while after healing from a scrotum the size of a grapefruit that was filled with fluid after operation. All this is just background in the off-chance it's related to his current condition.
His scrotum has a growth on it. It started as two wart-like objects and has merged into one. Maybe the size of a dime. This hasn't seemed to bother my dog at all. But this time of year he gets very dry and has started giving the growth too much attention and it is getting raw.
First, what could this growth be? And beyond that, what do you suggest as a solution for seasonal skin problems?
My dog as a strange growth, can someone help me determine what it might be?
well there is someone that can help they are called Vets.
and chances are they can help with both.
you can put hand lotion (i recommend non allergenic) on dogs also.
well that would depend on your definition of serious me i would consider a growth growing on my nuts SERIOUS LOL at least worth a 45 dollar vet bill anyway considering also that it could be an infection in a newer surgery area = life threatening also.
P.S didn't mean to be sarcastic i just come off that way sometimes I know why people ask here first no disrespect to ya.
Reply:It may be a hernia, and at that stage (very small) rarely needs treatment.
Reply:If your dog had that much trouble after his operation, I would suggest taking him back to your veterinarian if he has a growth in the area of the operation.
Reply:There's no way to tell you what this "growth" is without seeing it. Take him to a veterinarian to have it examined. While you're there, you can talk about your dog's skin problems as well.
Reply:The growth could be anything from a benign tumor to cancer so it should be checked out by a professional. The dry skin could be caused by a number of things from the food he's eating to what he's eating causing an alergic reaction. Your vet should be able to tell you what is also causing the dry skin.
Reply:Don't try second guessing. Make an appt. w/your vet.
There are some books on dog health, diagnosis etc. at many book stores, or try Amazon .com
Reply:I suggest that you call the vet who can possibly give you some Bentagin (sp) spray that could cool and sooth this just to see if it helps. How long has this increase in size taken? Has it occurred over a long period of time or has it gotten bigger all of a sudden?
How does it feel? Does it move easily or does it seem "rooted".
I am not sure how much I can help but I am willing to give you the knowledge that I have.
I must say that I admire your spunk. You have a way of phrasing things that I like.

Reply:Of course there is. A vet.
I think you'd be at your dr in a flash if it was on yours.
