Which dog would be a better choice?

I can't decide between a Chinese Crested, or a Bulldog.

Bulldogs are cute but can be big ole' guys and get hot right?

And I know there are teeth and skin problems with the cresteds.

Which dog would be a better choice?
I love our bulldog - but I also love my friend's Chinese crested - they are both great dogs with very different personalities. You already have some good info here on the two breeds - it's basically what you want in a dog that needs to be decided. All dogs will have health issues and concerns, as long as you are aware of them all -you just have to figure out which suits your lifestyle best... My bully is great, but she'll get lazy after a while. Suzy, the Chinese Crested, is playful almost all of the time but very "prim and proper" when she's out and about - and they take her everywhere,,, something I can't do with my bulldog , she's just too big...

whatever choice you make, you'll be happy - they're great dogs! enjoy!
Reply:a poodle....
Reply:depends on if you want a girly dog (c.c) or a manly dog (bulldog)
Reply:My thought is a bull dog i have one name emma and she is so sweet but dumb as a door nail :) ^.^
Reply:bull dogs are cuter compared to chinese crested dogs..unless the chinese crested dog is hairy..I think hairy pups are adorible!

but arnt chinese crested dogs known for no hair?! hmm...Id pick a bulldoggie!

As with other short nosed breeds, it is necessary to keep a watchful eye on your Bulldog in hot weather or in any stressful situation, making sure he has shade and clean water. Exercise is important for a Bulldog to build stamina and prevent obesity, but don't overdo it, particularly when it is hot or humid.

Like many other breeds, Bulldogs may be prone to a variety of health problems. Before you buy a puppy, ask the breeder about problems in his bloodlines. Hopefully he will be honest with you. Even if both parents are healthy, a puppy can develop any one of the more common health problems from several generations back. This is why buying a puppy should be done with care, and not on the spur of the moment.

Bulldog health problems that may be encountered are: elongated soft palate, small trachea, ectropian and entropian (eyelid anomalies), stenotic nares, and hip dysplasia problems. The average Bulldog life span is for 8 – 12 years.

Not all veterinarians care to treat Bulldogs. It is best that you use a veterinarian that your breeder uses.

A Bulldog must have no cosmetic surgery - he faces life as he is born. His ears remain uncropped, tail undocked and dew claws intact. His toenails will require frequent trimming, his ears and wrinkles frequent cleaning and he will need an occasional bath.

As with any dog, always provide your Bulldog with clean water and a correct and nutritious diet.

Chinese Crested Health

Exposed skin needs special care to prevent skin problems and irritations. The breed should be protected with sunscreen. Many Chinese Crested are allergic to lanolin and wool. Their teeth should be well cared for to prevent decay. Hairless dogs often lose many teeth as young adults. They should not be given bones to chew as they often have an incomplete set of teeth. The Hairless variety has the ancient forward- pointing canine teeth or "tusks" as they are called, but usually these are the first teeth to go. Powder Puffs (the long-haired variety of the hairless) generally have normal teeth and breeders are hoping to improve the dentition of the hairless variety by interbreeding with Powder Puffs. Each hairless dog carries one gene for hairlines and one gene for hair, as a combination of the two hairless genes is fatal. Therefore, Powder Puff and Hairless dogs often appear in the same litter. Do not overfeed this breed, as it will become obese if given the chance. The hairless dogs do get sunburn and a good sunscreen should be used if the dog is going to be out in the sun.
Reply:Chinese Creasted hands down. You will be alot happier . Small, doesn't shed. Unique because I don't see many at all. You do have to put lotion, and sun block on them through.

I not sure of the type of bulldog you want. But thinking a English, which is a sorry excuse, from what they once were. Look at old picture of English Bulldogs they had longer legs and were able to function. Check out an Amercan Bull dog, if you really want one.
Reply:personally i think you should get a Bulldog, they might seem big, mean and nasty but they actually sweet dogs that loves playing and learning new tricks.I've got one myself his name is King.he is sooooooooo veeeeeeeerry adorable!!!
Reply:Labrador...but if you have to decide between the two,id go for a bulldog.
