My dog is losing hair around her neck, and near her hips. What could be the cause of this?

She doesn't have a low thyroid problem, and the vet said she would need to do a skin biopsy. Has anyone ever had this problem? My dog is half shepherd/husky.

First of all, listen to your vet. Go ahead and do the biopsy. What kind of dog food do you feed your dog? It could be a nutritional problem. Maybe you should think of buying a vitiman made specifially for dogs, for skin and coat health. I order vitimans for my pets from Pilgrim's Pride.

Also, after bathing your dog, be sure to rinse soap off thoroughly. I have a Siberian Husky, and these dogs do have sensitive skin. You might need to use a special oatmeal shampoe.

Reply:the only thing I have ever heard that can cause it is Fish. I Visit the beach a lot and the Dogs that eat Fish loose all their hair. Ask a Vet. They can help you better than Yahoo.
