Want to but dog to sleep.?

OK haters, don't start in.

I have a dog that the kids no longer play with, has allergies. skinks from skin problems, never stops scratching, cries all night because it wants out, has destroyed the back yard and each trip to the vet cost over $150 bucks.

I just want to put the dog to sleep.

How much should I expect to spend for this application.

Want to but dog to sleep.?
It sounds like this poor dog is miserable and might be better off in doggy heaven. However, I agree that a shelter is a great idea if y ou can find the compassion to take this poor dog there. Hopefully you will. I think it's possible because you have tried to do something for him or you wouldn't be complaining about $150 vet bills.

I hope once you get this taken care of,that you never get another dog. No pet deserves someone like you; even one who stinks, digs, cries. Did you ever take this dog to obedience classes? did your kids? You've set a great example for your children about how to disrespect themselves and their pets.
Reply:the cost of killing you inconvenient family member will vary from vet to vet. You really need to call your vet and ask
Reply:You had no business aquiring an animal of any sort with your lack of responsibility. You don't euthanize a dog because your damn kids are tired of it. If you took better care of it, that poor dog would not have medical problems. Find the dog a home with someone who will actually care for it -- far away from the likes of you.

God, I hope this is just a Troll trying to get a rise out of people, and not a real question.
Reply:You are looking at anywhere from 80-120$. And I know you said not to start in, but i cant help it. If you acquire a dog and get "sick" of it, you are an ignorant, neglectful owner for wanting to put it down. Finances, of course, play a role when it comes to any medical care, but if you cant afford it, dont get a pet. Simple. What you need to do is find a shelter/rescue group to take on your dog. At least then he has a chance of finding the loving home he hasnt recieved. How dare you put an innocent animal in this position.
Reply:heres an idea. bring the dog to the local humane society and tell them you are too irresponsible to own a dog. ppl like you should NEVER own animals!!
Reply:It all depends on your particular veterinarian. It can range from 20-60 dollars just for the procedure and then more if you want him cremated or anything like that. Make sure to call ahead because some vets would not do the procedure based on the problems you have listed.
Reply:Don't put him down. Take him to a shelter !
Reply:Please at least bring the dog to a no-kill shelter. He can be helped if he's fed the right food. There are natural formulas for dogs with allergies. His allergies are making him miserable, thus he cries all night. As for destroying the back yard, proper training and care can help put a stop to that. If you at least take him to a no-kill shelter, he can have a chance that someone will adopt him that will have the time and patience to take proper care of him and he can have a good life. Hopefully you will find the compassion to do this.

Reply:YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME? I will hate all I want because you deserve it. You are a horrible person and you dont deserve a dog in your life , EVER . Its not the dogs fault, its YOURS. He has the allergies because you're not feeding him the right food. He cries all night and destroys the backyard because you haven't trained him any different! Its your fault! Dont put him to sleep because of your failings as a responsible, loving human being. Give him to someone else who will get off their lazy ***, unlike you, and take care of him properly.
Reply:GIVE HER TO THE LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER. SOMEONE OUT THERE WILL GIVE HER THE LOVE SHE DESERVES REGARDLESS OF HER INPERFECTIONS... UNLIKE YOU!!! OH, AND DON'T BE GOING ON ABOUT THE HATERS. YOU ASK A QUESTION LIKE THIS, YOU SHOULD EXPECT ANSWERS LIKE MINE... :(
Reply:It is cheaper to surrender your dog at a shelter. I believe it is free!!!

And it may be hard for you to find a crooked veterinarian who will kill your dog for the reasons you stated.

In my experience in the veterinary field, it may run anywhere from $120-$200 for your "application"
Reply:try to do whatever it likes and try to tire it out that helps because when thing and people get tired we always want to go to sleep.
Reply:how about finding it a new home?

no cost at all that way.
Reply:Don't euthanize your dog because you and your children are tired of it. Pets are a lifetime commitment. Pets are expensive. Pets are not disposable.

Consider placing it with a shelter or breed rescue group. Any ethical vet won't euthanize without medical reason.
Reply:Sounds like you weren't ready for a dog in the first place.

This is your fault that you have to put the dog to sleep, in fact there is no need to put this dog to sleep, you need to find it a proper home which people will actually take CARE of it.

Please think twice before you go ahead and do something careless.
Reply:How about you play with him and give him benadryl for his allergies and bathe him for his bad smell and sleep with him at night and teach him how to behave in the backyard or buy him toys so he can play with them in the yard instead of destroying your yard? Oh yeah-I forgot you'd rather KILL HIM! I feel sorry for your dog and sorry for your kids-Did you kill your kids when they made a mess or ignore them when they cried? For goodness sakes-anyone would love this dog 100% times more than you do! No wonder all the shelters are making people fill out a book to adopt a pet-They don't want people like you to have animals-You don't deserve it. My dogs are the most precious things in my life after God and My husband-they are family and loyal companions who love and trust us unconditionally. Your dog deserves a wonderful family who will love and take care of it. Do the right thing-Don't take the lazy way out and find this baby a great home!
Reply:Dont worry douche, its gonna cost less than those visits you made to the vet. Maybe the problem is your home is better suited for livestock than humans/dogs.
Reply:I can't believe I'm reading this question. How old is your dog? How long have you had he/she? Do your kids know of your plans to put the dog down? Is it neutered of spayed? What kind of skin condition does he/she have because a dog should not be scratching all the time unless it has a nerveous condition which could be controled with medication or behavior modification. Why does the dog cry all night to get outside? Are you sure there isn't another problem like abuse or neglect going on? Why has the dog destroyed the backyard? Do you leave he/she outside for hours without any attention or love? The dog sounds very bored and unhappy and sounds like he/she is mirroring your dislike of it right back at you! Did you get this dog without realizing that pets are a life long committment and are not FREE to maintain properly? There must be love in the mixture too!

There are many, many, many dog lovers out there and with a slight effort on your part you could find a really loving home for him or her. Why not make an effort for the little critter afterall, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY AS THE PET OWNER.

I hope you will be a better person and decide to make an effort for this animal. Putting an animal, a family pet of all things to sleep should not be taken lightly. All efforts should be tried to find this animal a true loving home FIRST! God made all animals and expects us to treat them with respect and love just as we are to treat each other. I pray you will really think about what else can be done and try it before you make an irriversible mistake of euthanasia.
Reply:that is an awful question and why put your dog down because ur tired of it. It cant help it that it has medical conditions, and why KILL an animal when it can be treated. How rediculus.-Farmboy's Daughters
Reply:I feel sure this is not a legitimate question, but an attempt to get a rise out of people. In that case, you are pathetic and need to get some sort of decent life.

If, however, this is a serious question, I have two suggestions. First, take the dog to a rescue group or run an ad to give it away to a decent home (unlike yours). Second, call a doctor to see how much it will cost to have you and the trash you are raising as a family all put to sleep. Vermin like you do not deserve the air or space you take up on the planet.
Reply:omg dont put the dog to sleep, just cuz you dont want the dog doesnt mean you should put it down bring it to a shelter .
Reply:You would be better off surrendering the dog to a shelter. It will be cheaper and you and your family won't have to worry about feeling any guilt afterwards. You'll still be teaching your kids that animals are disposable, but it's a little better than teaching them that life is disposable once the responsibilities get too boring for you.

Any ethical vet would refuse to euthanize an animal simply because the owner is tired of taking care of it, hasn't bothered to train it and then is upset by normal dog behaviors, and doesn't want to pay vet bills. Even if you did find a private practice veterinarian who would agree to kill your dog for you (they do exist, but fortunately they are in the minority) they would charge you an office exam fee (it is legally required if they aren't your normal vet as administering prescription drugs (esepcially controlled substances) requires a client-physician relationship) which would run between $20-50. In addition to the exam fee, they will charge you for the euthanasia drugs according to how much the animal weighs and what dose they need, which is another $20+ All in all, it would be cheaper to take the dog to the shelter and pay the minimal surrender fee (many shelters don't even charge a surrender fee and those that do rarely charge more than $20-30).
Reply:What kind of dog is it? Maybe you should give it to a breed specific dog rescue group instead of killing it. You didn't say how old it was so I'm assuming it's not too old. I have two german shepherds and most of my vet visits cost me over $200.00, one shepherd is on four different medicines, which I have to purchase every month (approximately another $200/mo.), has arthritis in both rear legs, needs lots of tlc as she can't get around very well, and has a thyroid condition. I knew I could run into this when I adopted her, but that was a choice I decided to accept. Please reconsider and give the dog a fighting chance to a happy life. You obviously don't care for the dog, so give him to someone who can love him as he is and is willing to make some sacrifices to keep him healthy and happy.
Reply:y not take it to the shelter where they will find someone to take care of it. obviously u have no interest in that. no good vet will put a perfectly good dog to sleep because the owner doesnt want it anymore
Reply:The shelters in my area charge a $25 surrender fee - cheaper than putting the dog down, plus the dog lives. Please give it some thought.
Reply:Call your vet and inquire
