I need help with vet bills for a poor dog that was abandoned. Can anyone help me?

This poor dog was left to die in a house a neighbor moved out of. My kids and I took him in and upon batheing him, found that he has severe skin problems. Im a single mother and cant afford vet bills, but I also cant turn my back on a living creature that is suffering. Can anyone help me or direct me to someone that might be able to?

where are you located? you should call some rescues in your area and also turn the people in that moved away and left the dog!! that's horrible and you are a great person for helping this dog!!there are many many rescues and you might be able to get help from your vet if you tell them the circumstances... but first of all I would go with some rescues.. what type of dog is it?? the shelter might put it to sleep but rescues will usually help the dog get better... unless there is no hope at all... if its just skin then it could be many things including just poor nutrition (or no nutrition) or mange, fleas, etc etc etc all treatable....

AGAIN GOOD JOB FOR CARING!!! I WISH THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE OUT THERE LIKE YOU!!!! SMILE
Reply:The humane society if you don't want to keep the dog. Look it up in your local phone book
Reply:There are "rescue" organizations that may help you out with bills - often they are by breed, like "Dalmation rescue" or "Boxer rescue." Look up on internet your city or state + animal shelters %26amp; they should pop up for you.
Reply:Call local animal control, ask them if there is any vet does routine work for them. Sometime that may be free or with very low cost.
Reply:Check out these sites. These are some groups that can help you afford the vet bills (some of this info courtesy of My Dog Rocks):

Reply:ASPCA or search online for a rescue. Hats off to you for doing the right thing for the dog and my Z says bark bark ( her way of saying thanks.)
Reply:First of all, well done for taking this dog in! I love hearing that abandoned dogs are being loved and cared for!

I'd advise you to ask around, search online or in your local phone book to find a rescue that could help out or give you some infomation as to what you need to do.

I hope all goes well and thank you for looking after him, really lovely of you! x
Reply:Great job on helping the poor pooch out!

If you're set and ready to keep the dog, many vet offices work out payments. You just have to call around and see who does and who doesn't. Also, a lot of vets can direct you to the right organizations that help with funding.

If you don't want to keep the dog, I suggest calling the local shelters/humane society. Find out which ones are kill shelters and avoid those (obviously!).

Great job again on doing the right thing!
