What are these brown spots on my dog's back?

Last week I was giving my Maltese a bath and noticed that she had these brown spots on her back. And today (to show what I meant) I wet her back again, and it seems to have gotten worse. She doesn't seem to be in any pain whatsoever.





I got her in February as a present and I don't know how old she is, but I think she's about a year old if not older.





Is this any type of a skin problem I should be cautious of, or are these color pigments?

It could be a reaction to whatever SOAP you used to bath her.


She could just have doggie freckles.


It could be sign of skin cancer.





It could be an allergy to something your carpet or maybe she


rubs her back on the undersides of car (oil and grease)





It could be sign of a big health problem like liver





Best thing to do is take her to your Vet


let Him determine what it means





About 30 years ago I had a cat that had spots on his skin


forming . We waited a couple weeks then went to the Vet


the Vet put him down right there . He had bad cancer


thru his lungs and intestines.

Reply:When you wet her do they spread or just look brown? The reason I ask if it spreads it sounds like flea droppings. If they don't move it could be her skin pigment. You might be able to find out with it is on this site... http://www.canismajor.com/dog/thithvet.h... All the best;~)
