My dog itches and smells...suggestions?

I have a pug that has some kind of skin problem (the vet thinks she is allergic to grass) so I bath her once a week, as per the vet's orders, with the shampoo the vet gave me. This seems to keep her symptoms at bay...not ever disappearing, but not getting worse. She has been scratching alot lately and she smells BAD, especially after she has been sleeping. My house smells too. I would like some suggestions on what I can feed her that may eleviate some of her symptoms. I currently feed her Purina One. I have dabled with feeding her homemade food (boiled chicken, rice, veggies, fruits, yogurt), but I didn't get any good results. Also, what can i do to get rid of some of the smell in the house? I frequently wash the blankets and bedding that she comes into contact with, but the carpets smell and I am on a budget. We are selling the house so I want it to smell good when people walk in, but I can't neccesarily have a candle burning while I am out of the house

if the dog has a skin problem the vet should be medicating him. many skin problems in dogs require steroid therapy for a short time. if this vet you have cant do anything, get a new vet. I have a basset hound and a lab. No dog smell here. Dogs don't smell that bad unless there is a problem. Wash everything in the house, and use fabreeze, it works good. Get your dog to a good vet.
Reply:Maybe tea tree oil ?
Reply:Bath flee treatment
Reply:try feeding her a higher quality food
Reply:Try Canidae All LIfe Stages.. Purina One is a horribly crappy food and is known for causing allergic reaction in dogs.. Chronic skin and coat problems, yeasty ears, licking the feet etc.
