I have a VERY large hairy dog, who loves to swim. The problem is his hair never really has a chance to fully dry so he gets a bit of a mildew type smell to him, this is all over his body. His skin is fine, no signs of any type of skin infections etc. It's just the moisture from swimming every day. Any ideas on how to reduce moisture next to a dog's skin, other than blow drying him daily?

You could get his hair cut shorter in the summer months. This way it would dry faster and not be stinky. It's much easier than blow drying him or smelling mildew dog. Good luck.
Reply:Try a good rinsing off with WHITE vinegar water and a quick blow dry-
there are super absorbent towels (try the ladies department)check to see that his bed is not staying damp.

Reply:With my chow mix, I use a wet/dry vac on her to get her coat to dry faster. There are also some shampoos made by Top Performance that might help plus clipping his hair shorter, not shaving, will help. I've been using the Furminator brush which is amazing at getting out the undercoat %26amp; that has made a huge difference in how fast my dog's coat dries.
