Dogs having problems with trees??

I just recently moved on july 4th. I moved because the house was better and it had a fenced in yard and trees(for shade) for my dog. So as soon as we moved in and got situated. which was about 2 weeks i noticed my dogs 1st problem: skin allergy, then maybe a week later gnats and bugs, and everything else.

What I'm trying to figure out is before I moved we DIDN'T have any trees and he did fine, no allergy, NOTHING, no fleas, only thing he had was 1 tick and that was because the grass was too high once. So is it the trees or what? because I know trees attract alot of bugs and what not. is there anything i can do to keep bugs away from m dog when he's outside?

Because recently vet bills has been ridiculously high and our vets aren't cheap.

You could purchase a product from Avon called Skin So Soft, it's a scented oil that actually keeps away gnats and mosquitos we used to spray it on the horses as well as ourselves to keep the bugs away while riding. You could spray his coat with that to help keep the bugs down. Also give him a benedryl tablet once a day to keep the itching and scratching down.

They sell this product called Fly's Off for dogs to help repel gnats, flies and mosquitos among other bugs.

Good luck
Reply:Time to get him on a flea and tick medication. I use Bio Spot, which you apply once a month, it can be found at pet stores, and it repels everything from flea to ticks to mosquitoes. Regular brushing and bathing can help too. The allergy might be from bug bites. Some people and dogs are allergic to cedar, so check what kind of trees you have.
Reply:you can get bug sprys to put on the tree thats pet frendly
Reply:He might be allergic to the trees or tree pollen, but you also mentioned fleas. Fleas are seem to be more hideous than usual this year, and this is the worst time of year. If he is not on Frontline or Advantage, that's the first place to start. And trees would have nothing to do with that.

The other bugs (unless they are mosquitoes) shoudn't be an issue.

I have a dog with a lot of environmental allergies and having him on a food for allergic dogs (California Natural) combined with biweekly bathing to remove allergens from his coat really helps keep things in check. When he gets bad, I give him benadryl - ask your vet for the correct dose for your dog. It does help short-term.
