My dog is having a problem with her left eye?

every now and then a thin skin will cover half of her eye when it happens it irritates her does anyone know what this is?

My dog is having a problem with her left eye?
the thin skin you see on her eye is called the third eyelid, and is nature's windshield wiper, to keep dust out of her eyes. If it is more prominent in the one eye, she may have dust in her eye or something irritating it.. You can get Visine natural tears, and put 2 drops in her eye about 3 times per day for a couple of days..

Or, you can stir a teaspoon of salt into a cup of warm water, and drip 2 drops in her eye three times per day..It should be better in 2 or 3 days..If the eye itself becomes red, she may need to see the vet, as anything scratching her eye could cause damage if not removed.
Reply:I have seen something of the sort happen when dogs are sleeping, but I would take her to the vet just to be safe. Good luck to you and your dog. :-)
Reply:it is called the third eye lid and is used to help protect the eye
Reply:It's probably a thin layer of skin over her pupal that is for some reason dislodging and pealing off. You need to take her to a Vet and see for sure. It could save her eye.
Reply:It could be a ulcer in your dog's eye, i have the same problem as yo 3 months ago, i brought it to the vet and the vet said it was a ucer in his eyes, i had to put some kind of eyedrop in his eyes, and was told that my dog has to put something on which blocks him from scratching, after about 4 weeks, my dog's eye was healed...
Reply:Does her eye get crusty? Like dried tears and goop? Then she may be having a problem with her tear duct and your vet can give you eye drops.

Is it scratched? I used to have a cat that got in a fight and her eye was scratched and it never was quite right - it'd go back and forth - it'd seem healed, then cloud up and tear up again. Maybe your puppy injured her eye. Again, there was an ointment to put in her eye that helped.

Sorry, your best bet is to go to a vet.
Reply:take her to the vet!
